A website is a centralized platform that all of your content points to, it shows more about you, what you offer, and how to make a purchase.

Have you ever felt like your content strategy is absolutely all over the place? Or rather, all over the internet? You might have long-form videos on YouTube, short-form videos on TikTok and Instagram, pins on Pinterest, tweets on X (do we still call them tweets?), groups on Facebook, snaps on Snapchat…the list goes on.

Have you ever thought about how nice it would be if there was a core location where all of your content, resources, and general business activities came together?

Let me introduce you to: ✨Your Website✨

A website can absolutely take your business to the next level, especially when we start talking about its ability to be your centralized platform. A website utilized as a central content hub is:

  1. A single destination for all content
  2. A platform for content repurposing
  3. A place to showcase your work
  4. A place for monetization opportunities

A single destination for all content

When you think of a website, you might think of a set of web pages that explain what a business is/does, what they sell, and how to contact them.

When you put it like that, it sounds boring…but really, it can be so much more and so much more exciting!

In an ideal world, all creators (course creators, online entrepreneurs, businesses creating content for marketing, etc.) are utilizing a website as the core location for all of their content, and where all content from outside platforms ultimately points to.

Think about it this way: one of your posts on social media catches someone’s eye and immediately makes them want to learn more about you, what you do, and what you offer. Basically, they want to learn how to dive deeper into your world and become internet bffs. (Yay!)

If you don’t have a website, they might be stuck piecing together information from your social media posts, trying to figure out how everything fits in sequence and how to learn more. (Yikes.)

I’ll give you an example.

I was scrolling through Instagram one day and came upon a creator who was talking about how she grew her hair from tragically thin to thick and voluminous. Obviously I was captivated.

I went to her Instagram page to look at her bio and find some sort of resource that gave me a hair care routine, a list of her favorite products…anything! Nope, nada. I then fumbled around for about 10 minutes, trying to make sense of her disjointed posts about different hair care treatments she does.

Ultimately, I moved on because I simply couldn’t figure out how to make sense of all her content and take the next steps to make my hair as luscious as hers.

Do you see the problem here? She didn’t have a centralized platform where I could totally immerse myself in all of her content and products she offered. She didn’t have any sort of offer ready for me to delve further into her hair-care world. I was ready to become a part of her following, subscriber list, etc. but there was nowhere for me to go beyond her fragmented social media posts.

She clearly missed an opportunity by not creating a website that guides people through their hair-care journey.

Let me say it louder for those in the back: SHE MISSED OUT ON A SALE!!!

For creators who are striving to take the next steps in their growing business and making more money, a website that all other content points to is a clear necessity.

A platform for content repurposing

Remember how we talked about all of the content you have on the seemingly never-ending list of social media platforms? Your website can be a place where all of your curated, organized content lives, and you can repurpose that same content for each social media platform.

Let’s talk about content strategy and SEO (search engine optimization) for a moment, without getting too technical.

The more high-quality content you have in more places on the internet, the more likely you can be found by people who are looking for what you offer.

You’ll definitely want to make sure you are using keywords and optimizing all of your efforts for search engines so that you can actually be found by those future fans (aka customers).

“But how can I use a website to repurpose my content and maximize my SEO?”

🤩 I’m so glad you asked.

A website is a place where you can take all of your short-form content from social media and compile it into a long-form blog post, or series of blog posts. I personally like to do the reverse of this tactic and write the blog posts first, and then create multiple pieces of content from the blog post.

An example of how to repurpose content is creating a long-form YouTube video containing basically the same information as the original blog post, but with video. The original content can then be separated into multiple short-form videos for Instagram and TikTok. You could also create Instagram carousels with bite-sized snippets of information from the blog post. The opportunities are endless.

The overall goal here is to utilize your website in a way that makes it the central location for all of your content repurposing efforts.

A place to showcase your work

Let’s say you have an amazing online course, products, or a service you offer. Now let’s say someone has found you - whether it be through a social media platform, your blog, whatever - and they are getting ready to take the next step in working with you. They want to see work you’ve done in the past and determine if you are a good fit for them.

This is where showcasing your work comes into play. And you guessed it - a website is the perfect place to display your work.

Showcasing your work can take a variety of forms whether it be a portfolio of past projects, case studies of working with previous clients, or testimonials of satisfied customers. Having a dedicated page on your website related to your past work makes it easy for a potential client or customer to begin assessing if you are the perfect match!

A place for monetization opportunities

When people are ready to hand over their money to you, they need a place to do so. Your website is the gateway to where you sell all of your products and services.

You might offer courses, highly-tailored services, coaching opportunities, products, online communities - the list goes on. Whatever amazing offers you have, put all the details about what is included, how much it costs, and how to make that payment on your website.

Your website can also serve as a place to give out lead magnets - aka freebies, opt-in offers, free resources, welcome gifts, etc. These free offers serve as a way to bring someone into your world and subscribe to your email list.

Your website is where all of your business efforts come together to make a beautiful package where prospective buyers can learn about you, what you have to offer, and make a purchase.

What’s next, you say? I’ve created a checklist that covers everything you need to get in order before creating your website. After completing the checklist, you will be ready to either start working with a web designer or begin designing your own website.

If and when you need a web designer, I’d love to be that designer! Feel free to check out my portfolio page to see my past work, and my services page to choose a package that fits exactly what you’re looking for.
